No. 7 Ducks Beat Colorado in Four


EUGENE, Ore. — Behind a season-high 12 aces and a highly efficient offense, the No. 7 Oregon volleyball team posted a four-set win (25-7, 24-26, 25-20, 25-9) over Colorado Sunday at Matthew Knight Arena. In victory, the Ducks improved to 21-4 overall with a 11-3 tally in Pac-12 play.
Oregon finished the afternoon with 12 service aces, replacing its previous season high of 10 against UW (Sept. 29), also on its home floor. Five Ducks had at least one service winner including five off the hand of Mimi Colyer and three by freshman Kate Thibault. The Ducks had just five service errors in the victory.
Under the direction of Hannah Pukis and her 45 assists, the UO offense generated a .380 hitting figure, its 13th outing of the season with a .300 or higher efficiency. No player had more than two attack errors against Colorado. Colyer and Gabby Gonzales each put down 15 kills with just three errors between the two outside hitters.
Pukis led all players with 17 digs to complete a double-double. With a majority of the CU attack directed toward the right side of the Ducks’ defense, libero Georgia Murphy stepped into second-contact duties and had eight assists of her own to go along with nine digs. Thibault established a new season high with 14 digs.
