LOS ANGELES – The seventh-ranked USC men’s volleyball team (3-0) collected a three-set sweep (25-19, 25-16, 25-16) of D’Youville (0-1) at Galen Center on Friday, Jan. 17.
KEY PLAYERS
- Fr. MB Parker Tomkinson led all scorers with 9.5 points earned on eight kills (0e, 10att) with .800 hitting and three blocks.
- Redshirt So. OPP Noah Roberts recorded nine points with five blocks (one solo), five kills, an ace, and seven digs.
- Jr. OH Dillon Klein posted four kills and had a dig and a pair of service aces.
- Fr. OH Sterling Foley led the team with eight digs and had three kills and two blocks (one solo).
- For the Saints, Tymek Brzoza and Ian De Wilde each had six kills apiece. Jacob Malak had eight digs. Randy Adorno put up 17 assists to go with four kills, five digs, three blocks, and a service ace.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- USC hit .333 to D’Youville’s .034 percentage and had more kills (32-26), assists (28-24), digs (29-25), and blocks (9-4.5).
- The Trojans hit .280 in the opening frame and got four kills from Tomkinson to snag a 25-19 win. Klein had three kills and Roberts added two to go with a service ace. USC scored one block, but the Saints struggled hitting and finished with a negative .080 percentage with seven kills (9e) on 25 swings. D’Youville scored three service aces and had 2.5 blocks.
