Bears Notch Fourth Straight Win On Senior Day

BERKELEY – The No. 9 California beach volleyball team extended its win streak to four games with a 5-0 sweep against San Francisco at the Clark Kerr Sand Courts Friday afternoon to improve to 22-6 (3-1 in Pac-12) on the season. The day also marked Cal’s Senior Day as Ashley Delgado, Natalie Martin, Lexi McKeown and Ainsley Radell were all honored in a special ceremony prior to the matches.

The Bears went 5-0 against San Francisco marking the 12th time they have swept an opponent this season. None of the five matches required a third set. McKeown and sophomore Ella Dreibholz improved their record to 3-0 with a dominant 21-11, 21-10 victory before the 5s pair of junior Ava Mann and freshman Portia Sherman got the win by forfeit as the match was called due to a USF player injury. On court two, junior Maya Gessner and freshman Marilu Pally sealed the victory for the Bears with a 21-12, 21-13 win.
 
Delgado and Radell earned their fourth straight victory (21-12, 21-12) as a duo, while the pairing of junior Liz Waters-Leiga and sophomore Sierra Caffo got its third straight (21-11, 21-8).
