Here’s a quote that I think hits the practice planning nail on the head.
No practice or training session should ever stand alone. It must always be connected with what came before, what will follow and be in the context of the whole annual plan.
As coaches we should always have a developmental plan for our team in the given season, training block, or whatever we’re in at the time. Developing training priorities is one of the two biggest jobs we have as coaches. We should constantly thinking about how one thing builds on top of another. It’s a similar concept to building your practice plan from the end back to the beginning.
