November Student-Athletes of the Month Announced

TUCSON, Ariz. – The student-athletes for the month of November 2023 have been announced by C.A.T.S. Academics and the honorees include Nyota Katemob (Soccer), Tony Pluta (Baseball), Nicole Briggs (Volleyball) and Filip Borovicanin (Men’s Basketball).
 
Athlete: Nyota Katembo
Year: Junior
Sport: Soccer
Hometown: Montreal, Quebec
“Nyota has grown during her time at University of Arizona, demonstrating improvement and a great love for her current course load. She is organized, plans ahead, creates attainable goals, and has developed sustainable strategies to meet those goals. She advocates for herself both academically and personally, and her motivation and great attitude have propelled her into an amazing semester.” – Academic Advisors Elle McAlister and Mary Hartman

Year: Sophomore
Sport: Baseball
Hometown: Palatine, Ill.
“Tony is an aerospace engineering major and has excelled academically over the course of his first year and a half. He has maintained one of the highest GPA’s on the team and finds success in both the classroom and the baseball field by working hard and staying organized.” – Academic Advisors Sarah Barber and Jennifer Mewes
 
Athlete: Nicole Briggs
Year: Junior
Sport: Volleyball
Hometown: Chino, Calif.
“Nicole has made incredible strides during her career at University of Arizona. She has implemented a variety of transferable skills that have helped her improve her academic standing over the past three years. Year: Sophomore
Sport: Men’s Basketball
Hometown: Belgrade, Serbia
“Filip is a native of Serbia and has excelled academically over the course of his first year and a half. He has maintained one of the highest GPA’s on the team and his work ethic is second to none. He is on track to have another stellar semester this spring and has really set himself up for success in the classroom.” – Academic advisor Andy Salgado
