CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois volleyball team’s conference opponents for the 2024 Big Ten regular season have been announced by the league office. The release revealed the first details of the Fighting Illini’s schedule following the additions of Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington to the conference.
Per the Big Ten, the opponent rotation achieves the following:
- All 42 matchups that did not occur at a certain site in 2023 happen at that site in 2024.
- Institutions in EST and CST each have a single away/away road trip to PST.
- Geography and competitive balance for two-plays were considered to the extent possible.
Illinois will play home and road contests against Indiana, Nebraska and Northwestern. Illini fans can catch the Orange and Blue at Huff Hall when the team battles Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio State, Rutgers, UCLA, USC and Wisconsin. Illinois will hit the road for its lone matchups against Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue and Washington this coming season.

The 2024 slate will be the eighth season under head coach Chris Tamas. Tamas owns a 131-81 mark at the helm, including four NCAA Tournament appearances. The Fighting Illini finished 16-14 overall in 2023 with an 11-9 mark in Big Ten action.
