ATLANTA, Ga. – Syracuse Volleyball fell to No. 10 Georgia Tech in three sets (18-25, 21-15, 20-25) on Sunday afternoon inside O’Keefe Gymnasium.
“We had several chances to compete against Georgia Tech,” said head coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam. “They took advantage of our inconsistencies today and it got the best of us. We had our chances today but we have to take advantage of our consistent moments moving forward.”
The Orange sit with an even overall record of 10-10 while moving to 6-4 in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets’ overall record moves to 15-4 and 8-2 in conference play.
In the first frame of action, the Orange fell by a margin of seven points, its largest set loss of the day.
Things began to heat up for the ‘Cuse in the second set, as the squad started off on a 3-0 run. The SU lead was maintained until GT evened the score 10-10. Georgia Tech proceeded to go on an 8-0 run to give the home squad an 18-11 advantage. ‘Cuse fought back hard to even the score 20-20, courtesy of an Ace from Viktoriia Lokhmanchuk and a block from Bre Walp and Polina Shemanova. GT then went on a 5-1 to secure the second frame.
Set three consisted of a back-and-forth battle but the Yellow Jackets managed to extend their lead to as high as six points throughout the set.
