Panthers Add Florida Transfer Bre Kelley


PITTSBURGH – Pitt Volleyball added another impact transfer with the signing of rising junior Bre Kelley. A 6-4 middle blocker with two seasons of eligibility remaining, Kelly joins Logan Mosley (Virginia Tech) and Emma Monks (Michigan State) as transfer additions for head coach Dan Fisher heading into the 2023 season.
 
“Bre is one of the most talented middles in the country and after spending time with her we know she’s an even better fit for our team as a person,” said Fisher. “Bre is the final piece for our roster and with her, we have talent, depth, and experience in every position. The Pitt volleyball fan base has a lot to be excited for in 2023!”
 
Kelley totaled 262 kills with a .351 hitting percentage and 175 blocks, while helping Florida to a 47-15 record and two NCAA Tournament appearances. Last season, she ranked second on the team in total blocks (124.0) and fourth in both kills (203) and points (278). The Rockwall, Texas, native hit over .400 in 12 matches and had at least four blocks 15 times on the season. In 2021, Kelley garnered SEC All-Freshman Team honors after totaling 59 kills, 51 blocks, nine digs and 87 points in 19 matches (50 sets).
 
Kelley has also competed for USA Volleyball in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023 winning gold medals at the U21 Pan America Cup in each of the past two seasons.
 
The Panthers return nine players from last year’s Final Four team, including a pair of 2022 All-America selections in Rachel Fairbanks and Valeria Vazquez Gomez. Pitt also returns 2020 All-America honoree Chiamaka Nwokolo along with Lexis AkeoJulianna DaltonCat FloodDillyn GriffinRachel Jepsen, and Emmy Klika.
 
In addition to the returning talent and trio of talented transfers, Pitt will welcome the highest rated incoming freshman class in program history with the signings of Olivia Babcock, Blaire Bayless, Torrey Stafford, and Haiti Tautua’a.
 
SCHEDULE
Pitt will once again play a terrific schedule with 16 matches against teams that competed in the 2022 Division I NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship. The Panthers will take on four opponents that reached at least the Sweet 16 (Kentucky, Marquette, Oregon, Louisville) and Nine of their 11 non-conference matches are against 2022 NCAA Championship…
