Panthers Earn No. 1 Ranking in AVCA Poll for First Time in Program History


PITTSBURGH – The AVCA announced that Pitt volleyball is No. 1 in the AVCA/Taraflex Division I poll for the first time in program history on Monday afternoon. The Panthers reached as high as No. 2 in week six during the 2021 season, resulting in their first Final Four appearance.

The Panthers were ranked in the top 10 every week last season, reaching a season best No. 4 in the week 14 and final poll.

Pitt heads into week three undefeated at 3-0 as it heads to California for a trio of matches. The Panthers face No. 23Β USC, Pepperdine and UC Santa Barbara. With the win over the Trojans, Pitt will pick upΒ its second top 25 win in the young season.
