TUCSON, Ariz. – The Pac-12 Conference announced the 24 recipients of the Pac-12 Postgraduate Scholarship for the 2021-22 academic year and Arizona’s Dana Parker (beach volleyball) and Trevor Volpe (track & field) were among the 24 honorees.
The scholarships, worth $9,000 each, are awarded to up to two student-athletes from each Pac-12 school annually. These worthy student-athletes maintained a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and demonstrated a commitment to education, campus and community involvement, and leadership.
Parker completed her fourth season with the Arizona Beach Volleyball program, amassing a career record of 70-24, which ranks seventh in program history for wins. She had 19 wins in 2022 after an 18-3 mark in 2021 led to an AVCA Top Flight recognition. She also received Top Flight honors in as a freshman, after going 25-5 in 2019.
“I can’t think of a more deserving person for this prestigious post-graduate award than Dana,” Arizona head coach Steve Walker said. “She gave every bit of herself to all aspects of our beach volleyball program on a daily basis – in the sand, in the community and in the classroom. We are thrilled for her to receive such an honor.”
The Wildcats have been ranked in the AVCA Top 20 throughout her career, reaching has high as No. 8 and narrowing missing a berth in the NCAA Championships as a junior. As a freshman, Parker teamed up with Ainise Havili to go 25-5, the second-best single season record for a pair in Arizona history. The 25 wins are also tied for the sixth-most by an individual in a season.
She graduated in 2022 with a degree in Global Health and was a three-time Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll recipient. She will be pursuing a master’s entry to the profession of nursing at the University of Arizona.
Trevor Volpe will earn his MBA and MSBA in Business Analytics as a part of a dual degree in 2023. He joined the coaching staff as a student assistant coach after a four-year career with the Wildcats.
