Following the completion of the 2023 ParaVolley Africa Sitting Volleyball Championships in Lagos, Nigeria from January 29 to February 3, two more teams have qualified for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, consequently confirming the World Cup men’s qualification spot for Germany.
Egypt clinched their record 10th men’s zone title victory, securing the African Zone qualification position, while Rwanda secured their spot in Paris after their fourth-straight women’s zone title triumph.
Egypt join hosts France, world champions Iran, Asian qualifier Kazakhstan, European champions Bosnia and Herzegovina, Pan American winners Brazil and World Cup qualifier Germany as the next to last qualified team for the Paris 2024 men’s tournament.
In the women’s tournament, Rwanda enter the field of teams comprised of hosts France, world champions Brazil, zone champions China, Italy and the United States, and World Cup qualifier Canada as the seventh squad to qualify for the quadrennial this year.
“It was an amazing event in Nigeria, with some very exciting matches that demonstrated the growing depth and quality of African men’s and women’s teams. I am certainly looking forward to seeing how they perform in Paris. Congratulations to Egypt and Rwanda,” said WPV Sport Director Stephen Giugni.
