ASTON, Pa. – The Immaculata men’s volleyball team defeated rival Neumann on Thursday evening in a 3-0 decision. The Macs took set one 25-20 before winning sets two and three by scores of 25-21 and 25-16.
Set one went back-and-forth with the Macs owning a 14-11 lead halfway through. The Knights then rallied to claim a 17-15 lead. The Macs, however, ended the set on a 10-3 run as the Macs claimed set one 25-20.
In set two, the scored stood 18-18 with neither team giving up much ground. At that point, the Macs went on a 4-point run to claim a 21-18 advantage. The Mighty Macs matched the Knights for the rest of the set, winning 25-21.
Up 10-8, the Macs began to rally in set three, going on an 8-2 run. The Macs continued their success late in the set, claiming a 25-16 victory to secure the series sweep.
Garrett Pepper led the Macs with season-highs in both kills and digs with 19 and 17, respectively. Joe Martell, meanwhile, led the Macs with 40 assists on the night.
The Mighty Macs will return to action next on Tuesday as they host Elizabethtown.
