Pitt and Louisville Advance to 2024 NCAA Volleyball Championship Semifinals


CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – No. 1 seeds Pitt and Louisville punched their tickets to Louisville, Kentucky, for the 2024 NCAA Volleyball Championship semifinals set for Thursday, December 19.
 
Pitt defeated No. 3 seed Kentucky in three straight sets on Saturday, December 14, to claim a spot in the 2024 NCAA Volleyball Championship semifinals. In the Pittsburgh Regional final, four different Panthers had at least six kills, as Torrey Stafford had six, Valeria Vazquez Gomez had seven, Bre Kelley had eight and Olivia Babcock had 13. Rachel Fairbanks recorded 31 assists and two blocks.
 
Babcock was named the 2024 Pittsburgh Regional Tournament MVP for the second straight season. The Los Angeles, California, native recorded 44 kills, including a career-high 31 kills against Oregon on December 12, 19 digs and six total blocks in the regional. Babcock joined teammates Rachel Fairbanks and Emmy Klika on the 2024 Pittsburgh Regional All-Tournament Team.
 
Louisville took down conference foe Stanford in a 3-1 thriller on Saturday, December 14, to earn a seat in the Final Four. In the Louisville Regional final, Anna DeBeer recorded 15 digs, Charitie Luper recorded 13 and Sofia Maldonado Diaz recorded 12. Elena Scott and Luper dug up 13 balls apiece, while Nayelis Cabello put up 29 assists.
 
DeBeer was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Louisville Regional and joined teammates Luper and Scott on the Louisville Regional All-Tournament Team. DeBeer recorded 30 kills and 13 digs in the Louisville Regional.
 
The Panthers and Cardinals will meet in the championship semifinals on Thursday, December 19, at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. This match will guarantee an Atlantic Coast Conference team in the 2024 NCAA Volleyball Championship title game.
