CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Pitt’s Rachel Fairbanks and Stanford’s Elia Rubin have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference 2024 Volleyball Co-Scholar-Athletes of the Year and headline the sport’s All-ACC Academic Team, the league announced on Thursday.

Fairbanks was named the ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season. The setter out of Tustin, California, graduated this past December with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Finance. This is her third season on the All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team.

 

During the 2024 season, Fairbanks recorded 1,067 assists (10.76 a/s), 221 digs (2.21 d/s), 41.0 total blocks (1.04 b/s), 38 kills and 38 service aces to help lead Pitt to its fourth consecutive national semifinal. She was a 2024 AVCA First-Team All-American, 2024 First-Team All-ACC honoree and a semifinalist for the 2024 AVCA Player of the Year. Fairbanks was also named to the 2024 AVCA East Coast Region team and the 2024 Pittsburgh NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team. She was also a second-team College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American this past season.

 

Stanford’s Rubin is a junior outside hitter studying Science, Technology & Society. The Santa Monica, California, native is two-time Academic All-Conference (2023, 2024), two-time CSC Academic All-District (2023, 2024) and was a 2024 CSC Second-Team Academic All-American.

 

Rubin closed out the 2024 season with 440 kills (3.93 k/s), 34 service aces, 283 digs (2.527 d/s) and 68.0 total blocks to lead the Cardinal offense. She hit .300 or better in 19 matches, including 10 matches above the .400 threshold and was second on the team with 10 double-doubles. She led the Cardinal in kills in 21 of 32 matches played and recorded 20 or more kills four times. Rubin was named to the 2024 AVCA Player of the Year Watch List, was a member of the 2024 All-ACC First-Team and was a 2024 First-Team AVCA All-American.

 

Twenty-one student-athletes who earned All-ACC first or second-team honors this season also secured spots on the academic team, highlighted by Louisville’s Elena Scott, the 2024 ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Seven student-athletes on the All-ACC Freshman Team earned All-ACC Academic Team honors, highlighted by Louisville’s Nayelis Cabello, the 2024 ACC Freshman of the Year.
