KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee volleyball signed former top-ranked recruit and outside hitter Hayden Kubik, head coach Eve Rackham Watt announced Monday.
“Hayden is a player that our staff is really excited about,” Rackham Watt said. “Joining us this spring, she will gain a significant advantage by being able to both train and compete with the team, while also acclimating to our system and embracing the special Lady Vol culture. We firmly believe in Hayden’s potential to evolve into a standout outside hitter in the SEC, and we are committed to supporting her in reaching that level. What we really like about Hayden is her ability to play six rotations and the championship experience she will bring with her. Her skill set and versatility complement our existing group exceptionally well. Additionally, Hayden’s maturity, strong character and academic excellence make her an ideal match for our program.”
Kubik was ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit by PrepVolleyball.com in the 2022 class when she signed with Nebraska, where she spent two seasons and also played for the beach volleyball team. During her freshman campaign, she had the opportunity to play alongside her sister, Madi, who was an All-American outside hitter for the Huskers. The West Des Moines, Iowa, native saw limited action behind a veteran roster, tallying 13 digs and 10 kills in 13 matches played.
The 6-foot-2 hitter showed enormous promise during her prep career, racking up more than 1,500 kills during her time at Valley High School. She was a four-time All-State selection and guided her team to top-five finishes in the state during three seasons. As a senior, averaged 5.2 kills per set with 488 total kills while hitting .296.
Kubik played club for Club Ignit Select, which was ranked No. 1 nationally in 2019, and won the Midwest Power League in 2020, finished in the top five at the Show Me Qualifier and placed in the top eight at Colorado Crossroads.
“When looking at future student-athletes to join our program we have prioritized not only talent, but equally important, young women who will add to the culture we have worked hard to build,” Rackham Watt said. “Hayden is a team-first player who understands what it takes to compete for a National Championship. That is clearly an exceptional combination, and everyone is thrilled to welcome her to Rocky Top.”
Kubik will join the Lady Vols later this month and will have two seasons of eligibility left.
