KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee volleyball head coach Eve Rackham Watt announced Tuesday the signing of Paityn Chapman, an outside hitter from Castle Rock, Colorado.
“Paityn has the potential to be a game changer for us,” Rackham Watt said. “Her skill set is exceptional, and we are excited to see her growth and development as she joins our team. Paityn’s versatility on the court is what makes her unique. She is a 6-rotation player, who can hit from either pin at a very high contact point. She exhibits fearlessness on defense and has a point-scoring serve. We love how hard Paityn plays the game every time she’s on the floor. She will add depth to our outside hitter position, and as she develops, I know our fans will enjoy watching her play.”
Chapman, the 134th-ranked player in the class by PrepVolleyball.com, is one of the best outside hitters in the country. During her senior campaign, she boasted 554 kills, 216 digs, 49 blocks and 41 aces for Castle View High School to earn First Team All-State and All-Continental League honors. She eclipsed 30 kills in four matches and posted 14 efforts with 20 or more kills. She also boasted nine matches in which she averaged seven kills per set or better. Earlier this season, she was named the MaxPreps/AVCA Player of the Week for Colorado.
As a junior, Chapman earned All-Continental League First Team recognition and was honorable mention for the Class 5A All-State team. She posted 388 kills to go along with career highs in digs (251) and aces (47). She had eight double-doubles during the impressive campaign and eclipsed 20 kills in eight outings, including a 32-kill match. She netted double-figure digs 11 times with her top performance featuring 22 digs.
