COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland volleyball middle blocker Rainelle Jones was voted to the 2022 Preseason All-Big Ten Team by the league’s 14 coaches, the league announced Monday morning.
Jones, an Oxon Hill, Maryland, native, is returning for her fifth season in College Park. Already third in program history with 545 career blocks, Jones looks to cement her place among the program’s best.
Last season, Jones led the NCAA with 1.73 blocks per set with 108 on the season. She also added 169 kills.
The conference also announced that the Terps were picked as the 10th-best team in the nation’s best volleyball conference.
All ten teams ranked ahead of Maryland are ____. Last season, both NCAA Finalists hailed from the Big Ten while only one NCAA Championship in the last five years has failed to feature a program from the conference.
Maryland opens the season August 26 against Rhode Island before also facing Navy and Florida Gulf Coast that weekend. Conference play will begin September 23 at Illinois.
