WACO, Texas — Kennedy Wade of Xavier University (La.) earned recognition as the RRAC Volleyball Attacker of the Week for Aug. 22-28, the first weekly award of the 2022 season. Lauren Reynard of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) was selected as the RRAC Setter fo the Week, and Xavier’s Linda Mungai was named RRAC Defender of the Week for the same dates. 

Wade produced four double-double efforts as the Gold Nuggets posted a 2-2 record at Life University’s (Ga.) Running Eagles Classic. The junior outside hitter from Gainesville, Fla., tied the school record for kills in a match with 27 while helping Xavier bounce back from a two-set deficit and an 8-3 fifth-set deficit to defeat Bryan College (Tenn.). Wade averaged 4.3 kills per set and posted a .221 hitting percentage against four teams that reached the NAIA national tournament last year. 

Reynard made her college debut and approached school records for assists in a match while the Saints went 2-2 in the San Antonio ShinDig Tournament. The freshman setter from San Antonio recorded 51 assists in a 3-2 loss to Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas), and she chipped in 50 in a four-set win over Loyola University (La.). Reynard averaged 9.7 assists per set against nationally-ranked competition. 

Mungai set a career high with 31 digs in a Xavier loss to Ave Maria University (Fla.) while setting the Xavier season record for 30-dig matches with three in four contests. The junior libero from Busto Arsizio, Italy, averaged 6.4 digs per set with 110 total digs for the week. Mungai also contributed 18 assists.
