Fayette, IA — The (RV) Lewis University women’s volleyball team faced Upper Iowa University on Nov. 8 and won 3-1.

SET BREAKDOWN vs. Upper Iowa
Set 1: Lewis 25, Upper Iowa 19
The first set of the match had Lewis take the first point with a kill by Natalie Stefanski (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet West). The Peacocks then take the advantage by scoring the next two points to put themselves at a 2-1 lead. The Flyers then proceed to score three consecutive points while the Peacocks score three points of their own to keep their lead at 5-4.
After another point for Lewis and Upper Iowa, the Flyers then proceeded to take the lead by scoring four points to gain a 9-6 advantage. Lewis then scored another three points after Upper Iowa gained an attack error so Lewis then led the set 12-7.
The game then became a back and forth one with the Flyers gaining a point and then the Peacocks gained one right back. This was stopped when Upper Iowa managed to gain three consecutive points to put themselves closer to Lewis at 16-14. However, Lewis was still able to play on and keep a few points ahead of Upper Iowa.
The decisive moment came when Lewis was able to score three consecutive points to gain a bigger 23-17 lead. The Peacocks were able to score but not enough to catch the Flyers and Lewis won the first set 25-19
Set 2: Lewis 25, Upper Iowa 15
The start of the second set saw Januski taking the first score while Upper Iowa took the next two points. Both teams had back and forth scoring, however, the Peacocks managed to stay in the lead.
It was not until a service error from Upper Iowa that began a series of eight consecutive points for Lewis that finally gave them the lead at 15-9. This momentum from the Flyers continued throughout the second set where Lewis was always ahead of Upper Iowa.
The set ended with three consecutive scores to put the score at 25-15 and give Lewis another successful set.
Set 3: Upper Iowa 25, Lewis 18
