Ryan, Brustad and Blažková Earn All-WCC Honors


PULLMAN, Wash. (December 2, 2024) – Washington State Volleyball had three players earn all-conference recognition from the West Coast Conference Monday afternoon.

Seniors Katy Ryan and Sage Brustad were both named All-WCC First Team, and Lucie Blažková earned All-WCC Second Team and Freshman Team honors.

Ryan has led the Cougars as the top offensive weapon on the team averaging 3.37 kills and 3.84 points per set, both fifth highest in the conference. The Rathdrum, Idaho native capped the regular season hitting at a .262 clip with 367 kills, 92 total blocks, and 418.5 points, currently sitting with 1,191 career kills, 351 career total blocks and 1,380 career points.

Brustad was also stellar on the offensive front, averaging 3.66 points per set to finish eighth in the WCC, and 3.07 kills per set for 10th in the conference. With 41 service aces this season, her 0.38 aces per set was second highest in the WCC, and she finished the regular season with 335 kills, 351 total blocks, and 398.5 points.

Blažková came in as a redshirt freshman this year and made an immediate impact on both sides of the ball. On offense, she fished the regular season hitting at a .281 clip and averaging 1.82 kills and 2.83 points per set. Defensively, she led the team with 132 total blocks, including 40 solo blocks which is the sixth most in a single season in program history and most all-time in the rally scoring era.
