BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Elmira Men’s Volleyball team was unable to snatch victory against the Saint from D’Youville College on Saturday afternoon, as the Saint would come out on to 3-1 in the four-set match. Elmira, who struggled in its attacking core on Wednesday at St. John Fisher was unable to take advantage against the Saints, as the team combined for 27 attacking errors and 19 service errors despite leading by a fraction in the hitting percentage category.
Alberto Mauricio ’25 would be heavily relied upon, as the sophomore registered 26 kills on 60 total attempts, while Oscar Munoz Trinidad ’23 chipped in 11 kills of his own. Max Cohen ’25 would record 42 set assists in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
In each of the four sets, both teams would eclipse the 20-point mark, with the Saints taking the early advantage in the match following a 25-22 victory. With D’Youville leading, Elmira would tally a pair of scores following kills from Munoz Trinidad and Mauricio to knot the set at 14-14. After Elmira gained the lead on a Saint attacking error, the home squad would rally to score six of the next seven points, retaking a lead of four with the score 22-18. After the Soaring Eagles scored four of the next five to decrease its deficit to just one, it wasn’t enough as the home team would notch a kill, while taking advantage of an attacking error to have the first set.
