Saints Come Back to Win in Five Sets

Aberdeen, SD – The Presentation College Saints won in a five-set thriller against the Waldorf Warriors, winning by a score of 25-23, 20-25, 19-25, 25-14, 15-11.

Presentation took a close first set by a score of 25-23. Trailing 11-9, the Saints used an 8-2 run to take control of the set.

The Warriors got out to an early 9-5 lead in the second set. The Saints were able to close within one point, but ultimately lost the set 25-20.

In the third set the Warriors once again got out to an early lead, leading 7-2. The closest the Saints got was within three points, with the Warriors winning the set 25-19.

The fourth set was all Saints. They used a 17-6 run to take control, and won the set 25-14.

It was Waldorf who got out to the early lead in the fifth set, taking a 6-1 lead. But the Saints rallied and scored six of the next seven points, tying the set at seven all. The Saints then scored eight of the last 11 points in the match to win the final set 15-11.

The Saints had three players record double digit kills, led by Becca Payne with 13. Ashley Alfonso and Constence Rollins has 12 and 11 respectively. Olivia Corey led the way with 26 assists. Also recording double digit assists was Sydney Miller, who had 16.

Defensively it was the Laura Babcock and Constence Rollins show. Babcock led the match with 28 digs. Rollins meanwhile recorded nine blocks, six solo and three assisted. Saige Jones and Kerstin Knopik each had four block assists as well.
