Shroll Nabs Second Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week Honor

IRVING, Texas – For the second time this season, graduate libero Mary Shroll is the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after she led all players in digs in both wins for No. 13 Sun Devil Volleyball last week.

This is the third Big 12 weekly award for Arizona State this season. Shroll, who leads the Big 12 in digs and digs per set, has won two and Geli Cyr was the offensive player of the week last week. In Shroll’s career, this is her third weekly award. For the full list of winners, head to the Big 12’s release.

Shroll shined in ASU’s wins over Utah and then-No. 20 BYU last week. In the victory over Utah, she notched a game-high 23 digs, which was her fourth match this season with 20-plus digs and the 12th time in her career reaching that mark. Shroll led all players in the win over BYU with 17 digs. She now has had 18-straight matches with double-digit digs. At the service line, she had five aces last week, including three against BYU to match her season high.

Arizona State hosts in-state rival Arizona on Wednesday at 7 p.m. MST in Desert Financial Arena.
