The Slovenian women’s sitting volleyball team wrote another amazing chapter in their remarkable story with a sensational end-of-year accolade.
For the first time in history of the Slovenian Athlete of the Year Awards, the award for Disabled Athlete of the Year was given to a team. Members of the Slovenian sitting volleyball team were presented with the award for their outstanding sporting achievement this year.
“The award is a big proof that we are on the right track and a big confirmation for Slovenian Para sport in general. Congratulations to the girls, the professional staff, and thank you to everyone who supported us on our journey,” ParaVolley Slovenia on their Facebook post after winning the unprecedented award.
The event was held in Cakarjev dom in Ljubljana on Tuesday evening, December 19. The Sports Journalists Association of Slovenia has been organising the event since 1968.
