ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College women’s volleyball team made it two wins in a row on Friday evening, defeating the visiting Wildcats from Penn College in straight-sets. The Soaring Eagles, who were led by Maddie Bocuher ’24 who finished with 14 kills and four service aces, would see 19 reception errors from the opposition as the Soaring Eagles achieved its highest service ace total of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Elmira faced its greatest challenge in the opening set when the two teams shared 14 tie scores, along with five lead changes. Up until a 15-14 advantage in favor of the Wildcats, no team was able to grow its lead to greater than three points until the Soaring Eagles used a 5-0 run with Boucher at the service position to eventually put EC out in front, 19-15.
- From there, a service error from Penn College, followed by three additional points allowed for EC to extend its lead to six, but a 6-2 run with Cheyene Stein serving for the Wildcats pushed the opening set to extra points. Eventually, the set would end in Elmira’s favor after a kill from Boucher, followed by a service ace from Cassidy Ryan ’24. Seven reception errors would be the difference for the Wildcats in the frame, despite a .364 hitting percentage.
