Stafford, George Named PNC Achievers of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Women’s Volleyball’s Torrey Stafford and Football’s Brandon George were named this week’s PNC Achievers of the Week.

Sophomore Torrey Stafford recorded 13 kills on a .375 hitting percentage against #23 USC and added four blocks, three digs an ace and an assist to an already impressive season. She registered 14 kills against Pepperdine, hitting .268 while notching 12 digs, two assists and a block for her first double-double of the season.

Sixth-year linebacker Brandon George scooped up a block punt and scored his first career touchdown in a thrilling 38-34 Backyard Brawl victory on Saturday afternoon at Acrisure Stadium. George would collect a season-high nine tackles and 0.5 TFLs in the win as the Panthers improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2020. The Reading, PA native came up large in a game-changing moment when he picked up a Maverick Gracio blocked punt and took it in for six to give the Panthers a lead halfway through the third quarter. George has accumulated 20 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one touchdown through the first three weeks of the season.
