Stanford Falls at Grand Canyon

PHOENIX – No. 8 Stanford fell in straight sets at No. 1 Grand Canyon, 25-22, 25-18, 25-17, Sunday, at GCU Arena.

Grand Canyon (15-0, 6-0 MPSF) hit .377 while holding Stanford (8-8, 1-3 MPSF) to a .228 clip. The Lopes finished with 6.5 blocks and nine aces, while the Cardinal tallied 3.0 blocks and four aces.

Opposite Moses Wagner registered a team-high 10 kills to go with two digs and two aces. Outside hitter Will Rottman totaled eight kills, a season-high seven digs and a solo block.

 



Setter Nathan Lietzke posted 17 assists, two digs, two kills, a block and an ace in two sets played. Sophomore Theoren Brouillette replaced Lietzke in the third set, finishing with 11 assists. Libero Luke Turner collected six digs and an assist.

Middle blocker Nathaniel Gates finished with five kills, a dig and a block. Sophomore Ryan DuRoss started the match at outside hitter, notching two kills, two digs and a block. Outside hitter Theo Snoey subbed in for DuRoss in the second, adding four kills on five errorless swings, two digs and an ace.
