STANFORD, Calif. – Despite registering a season-high 65 kills, No. 8 Stanford fell in five sets on Friday in Maples Pavilion to The Master’s, 26-24, 21-25, 22-25, 28-26, 11-15.
The No. 1 ranked team in the NAIA, The Master’s (4-0) hit .329 for the match, posting 63 kills, 54 digs, 6.0 blocks and six aces. Stanford (4-5) hit .316 as a team, its second-highest output of 2025, to go with a season-best 48 digs, 8.0 blocks and eight aces.

Outside hitter Theo Snoey led Stanford with 18 kills, seven digs and a block. The junior also matched his career-high with five aces. Opposite Moses Wagner recorded Stanford’s first double-double of the season with 17 kills and a career-best 11 digs.
It was a back-and-forth match all night long as there were 44 tie scores and 16 lead changes. The Cardinal hit .400-plus in both the sets it won.
Setter Theoren Brouillette controlled the offense with a career-high 57 assists. The junior added two kills, five digs, four blocks, including one solo, and two aces. Freshman Kai Schmitt earned his first collegiate start at libero, collecting 11 digs.

Junior Luke McFall started at middle blocker and posted a career-high 12 kills on .500 hitting to go with five blocks and an ace. Junior Ryan DuRoss was in the lineup at outside hitter, totaling seven kills, five digs and a block in three sets. Sophomore Carson Kneisl replaced DuRoss to start the fourth and finished with five kills and two digs.
The Master’s had three players register double-digit kills, with Braden Van Groningen leading the team with a match-high 18 kills on .302 hitting. Isaac Seltzer and Max McCullough each had 12 kills for the Mustangs. Libero Preston Schmidt tallied a match-best 18 digs.
