STANFORD, Calif. – No. 6 Stanford fired on all cylinders, hitting a season-high .542 as it swept No. 16 Georgia Tech, 25-9, 25-17, 25-12, Saturday, in Maples Pavilion.
Stanford (19-4, 11-3 ACC) registered 44 kills with just five attack errors for the match, hitting .778 in the first, .407 in the second and .519 in the third.
Redshirt freshman Ipar Kurt hit a career-high .833 with 10 kills on 12 errorless swings. The outside hitter also notched three blocks and an ace. Junior Elia Rubin had a match-high 11 kills on a .435 attack percentage, four blocks and two digs.
The Cardinal was stingy on defense, holding the Yellow Jackets (18-5, 10-4 ACC) to a .034 clip. Stanford finished with 13.0 blocks and 37 digs. Five different Cardinal tallied an ace.
Setter Kami Miner controlled the Cardinal offense with 31 assists. The senior also recorded 10 digs, two kills and ace for her 13th double-double of the year. Libero Elena Oglivie turned in her second double-double of the season with a match-best 15 digs and 10 assists.
Middle blocker Sami Francis hit .692, totaling nine kills on 13 errorless swings. The senior had a match-high seven blocks. Opposite Jordyn Harvey added nine kills on .375 hitting, matched her career-high with five blocks and had seven digs and an ace.
Freshman Lizzy Andrew was 3-0-4 offensively (.750) and posted five blocks. Defensive specialist Anna Pringle collected two digs, while Koko Kirsch put down an ace.
Georgia Tech was led by Bianca Bertolino’s seven kills, four digs and an ace. Tamara Otene chipped in with six kills and eight digs.
It was the first meeting between the Cardinal and Yellow Jackets since 1995. Stanford is now 3-0 all-time against Georgia Tech.
Stanford remains on The Farm next week, hosting Virginia on Thursday and Virginia Tech on Friday.
