STANFORD, Calif. – In a complete team effort, No. 7 Stanford swept No. 13 USC, 25-19, 25-19, 25-23, Friday, at Maples Pavilion.
Stanford (12-11, 5-6 MPSF) hit .420 as a team – its third-highest output of the season. The Cardinal racked up 10.5 blocks, 30 digs and six aces, while holding USC (12-13, 3-8 MPSF) to a .200 attack percentage. The Trojans finished with 29 digs, 2.5 blocks and two aces.
The win means the Cardinal will be either the No. 4 or No. 5 seed in next week’s MPSF Championship and will face Pepperdine at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.
Stanford opposite Theo Snoey led the team with 11 kills on a .625 attack percentage, two digs, two blocks and two assists. Middle blocker Ethan Hill tallied seven kills on 10 errorless swings to hit .700 – the highest by a Cardinal player this season (minimum 10 attempts).
