Vinh Phuc, Vietnam, April 24, 2023 – Team officials, Control Committee and organizers gathered in the Convention Hall inside the DIC Star Hotel Vinh Phuc on Monday to attend the General Technical Meeting for the 2023 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship, carried out in accordance with the AVC General Regulations.
The multi-lateral meeting was held one day ahead of the official commencement of the topflight championship, the Asia’s qualification tournament, from which the eventual winners will represent the continent to compete in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship due to be held later this year in China.
A total of 9 club teams will test their mettle in the April 25-May 2 tournament comprising Sport Center 1 (hosts Vietnam), King Whale Taipei (Chinese Taipei), Paykan (Iran) and Hisamitsu Springs (Japan) in Pool A and Liaoning Donghua VC (China), Hip Hing VC (Hong Kong, China), Altay VC (Kazakhstan), Khuvsgul Erchim VC (Mongolia) and Diamond Food Fine Chef-Air Force (Thailand) in Pool B.
All participating teams will play pool round-robin preliminaries, with only top two teams from each pool advancing to the cross semifinals. The lower-ranked sides finishing 3rd and 4th places in Pool A and 3rd, 4th and 5th places in Pool B will fight it out in classification round for 5th-9th places.
To ensure that all is set for the top-tier annual competition regarding the teams’ participation, host country’s roles, competition regulations and the organisers’ planned management in all aspects, the General Technical Meeting was held on Monday evening and came to a successful conclusion within one hour, with all 9 club teams notified of the technical matters from Control Committee President and Technical Delegate Dr Eom Han-Joo, refereeing issues from Referee Delegate Mr Takashi Shimoyama, information about press interviews from Press Delegate Mr Preechachan Wiriyanupappong as well as medical matters, the organisers’ updated information and special considerations under the COVID-19 situation.
Mr Le Tri Truong, Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Vietnam, presided over the General Technical Meeting and delivered a welcome speech to all participating teams, officials and Control Committee.
