Tech Enters Top 10 in AVCA Top 25 – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

LEXINGTON, Ky. Georgia Tech volleyball has been ranked No. 10 in the AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Women’s Poll, the organization announced on Monday. The White and Gold’s reentry into the top 10 ties the seventh highest ranking received by the Yellow Jackets in program history, joining the 2003 squad.

Georgia Tech’s selection marks the fifth appearance in the AVCA’s top 10 in seven polls this season.

Reappearing in the top 25 for the first time since 2005 at No. 12 on Sept. 30, 2020, Tech has since been listed in 45 straight top 25 polls to date.

Tech is one of three ACC teams inside the top 10 alongside No. 2 Louisville and No. 9 Pitt. Throughout the Jackets’ gauntlet, the White and Gold have already swept No. 14 BYU, faced No. 6 Ohio State and taken on No. 2 Louisville. Georgia Tech is still slated for a rematch with the Cardinals and two upcoming contests against the Panthers.

Each of the aforementioned teams reached the NCAA Tournament in 2021 as Louisville and Pitt each advanced to the Final Four while Ohio State and BYU both played into the Sweet 16. The Jackets eliminated the Buckeyes during their Elite Eight run.

As a unit, Georgia Tech is currently second in the ACC in both kills per set (13.70) and assists per set (12.61). The Yellow Jackets are also sitting in fourth in the league in hitting percentage and fifth in the conference in digs per set (14.16) Individually, Bergmann continues to lead the ACC in kills per set (5.23) and points per set (5.88) as she’s fourth in the nation in both.

Tech has won 68 of its last 83 matches dating back to 2019. The Yellow Jackets have also won 41 of their last 47 matches at home, earning the program’s 300th win inside O’Keefe Gymnasium in their last home appearance.

Georgia Tech will return home, hosting Virginia (8-7, 0-4 ACC) on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. before the program’s first ever match in McCamish Pavilion against No. 9 Pitt (14-2, 4-0 ACC) on Oct. 9 at 2 p.m. The Yellow Jackets’ matchup against the Cavaliers will appear on ACC Network Extra before the top-10 battle with the Panthers is broadcast on ACC Network.
