GREENSBORO, N.C. – Ten Hokies have been named to the 2022 Volleyball All-ACC Academic Team, the ACC announced Tuesday morning. Hanna Borer, Elayna Duprey, Ava Francis, Logan Mosley, Mara Perry, Sydney Petersen, Brie Postema, Cera Powell, Maddie Slagle and Anabel Zier put in the work on the court and in the classroom.
Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests. Postema and Mosley earned the honor last year, while the remaining eight earn the Academic All-ACC honor for the first time.
This is the largest group of Hokies to make the All-ACC Academic Team under Marci Byers and in the ACC era. Tech earned a 3.58 Fall 2022 GPA, the third-highest team GPA for the fall across Tech’s 20 varsity sports.
The Hokies continue to shine in the classroom, earning the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award heading into the 2022 season. Tech earned the award for the fourth straight season, holding a team average of 3.30 or higher throughout the 2021 season.
Powell, Mosley and Zier were also named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators, recognizing the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined academic and athletic performances. The three Hokies were recognized for having a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher.
