Tennessee Volleyball Announces Spring Slate

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – After a historic 2023 campaign, Tennessee volleyball head coach Eve Rackham Watt announced Friday the team’s spring slate.

The Big Orange kicks things off on Saturday, March 2, with a trip to the state capital to face Lipscomb. That contest will begin at 2:30 p.m. ET and admission will be free.

Tennessee returns to action for back-to-back weekend tournaments to end the month. The first will be on March 23 and will be hosted by the Alliance Volleyball Club in Nashville. The Lady Vols then head south to Atlanta to compete in a trio of matches at Georgia Tech. Times for both weekends will be released at a later date. Rounding out the spring, UT faces off against Louisville in a road matchup on April 13 at 5 p.m.

The Lady Vols will host an Orange & White Scrimmage on Friday, April 26, at the Joan Cronan Volleyball Center. More details for this event will be in the coming weeks.

UT is coming off a successful 2023 season, advancing the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2005 and finishing second in the SEC. The team returns key starters Caroline Kerr and Kiki Granberry amongst a talented roster.

Granberry finished her sophomore campaign with 162 kills on .356 hitting and a team-leading 108 blocks. It was the second season in a row in which she eclipsed the 100-block mark.

Several players look to gain more time on the court after the Lady Vols graduated several starters. Rising sophomore Mackenzie Plante stepped in as the libero during the third set of the Sweet Sixteen contest against Texas and tallied a career-best 15 digs. The middle blocker duo of Emily Beeker and Klaudia Pawlik both contributed throughout the season and could be poised for breakout seasons in 2024.

Ashllyn King and Abby Ekeler were huge contributors in the service game a year ago, combining for 50 aces between the two. They could see a rise in playing time in their defensive specialist roles.

In addition to several other returners, the Lady Vols added three new members to the roster in January. Transfer Hayden Kubik was one of the top-ranked recruits in her class after recording more than 1,500 kills during her time at Valley High School. She was a four-time All-State selection and guided her team to…
