Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Programs Make Marks at Greyhound Invitational

Men’s and Women’s Track – Thu, Jan. 28, 2021

Indianapolis, Ind.- The men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed at the Greyhound Invitational this past weekend. The meet was hosted by the University of Indianapolis, an NCAA Division II school, and consisted of teams from multiple levels. 

Men’s Track and Field

The two-day meet started with a few field events, the Shot Put and the Weight Throw, on Friday. Jeremiah Sullivan led the Bulldogs in each, finishing fifth in the Weight Throw with a mark of 14.38m and 10th in the Shot Put with his throw of 12.14m. Cade Watkins also represented the team in the previously mentioned events, finishing 10th in the Weight Throw (11.49m) and 15th in the Shot Put (10.34m)

The second day of the meet saw Tennessee Wesleyan see multiple winners of events. On the field side, Tevon Shuler was the winner of the Triple Jump with a mark of 14.04m, giving him the 10th best mark in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Shariq Dodd gave the team two in the top five in the Triple Jump with his jump of 12.34m. A back-to-back finish occurred in the Long Jump with Dodd (6.80m) finishing second and Shuler (6.47m) finishing third. Josh Molands gave the team three in the top five with his fifth place, 6.46m finish. In the High Jump, Chris Belew and Shelton Milne both finished tied for third with jumps of 1.80m. 

On the track, the team saw two first-place finishes. The first came in the 60m Dash, where Kenny Benton ran a 6.93 second time to win the event. Dodd (7.09, sixth) and Caleb Ferreira (7.38, 10th) each finished in the top ten of the event while Molands (7.51) and Jamari Harris-Pryce (7.83) finished 13th and 18th respectively. K’Juan Stacy-Wright just missed a top-twenty spot, finishing 21st in a time of 7.94.

Benton also left the meet as the winner of the 200m Dash, winning the event with a time of 22.27, giving him the eighth-best time in the NAIA after adjustment for track size (21.88). Harris-Pryce (25.21) and Trevor Mayes (25.65) finished 12th and 13th respectively. Mayes also ran in the 400m Race, finishing 11th with a time of 1:01.09.

Women’s Track and Field
