Ohio State

COLLEGE PARK, MD – After defeating Michigan State on Nov. 7, Maryland volleyball defeated UCLA (25-20, 23-25, 25-19, 27-25) on Saturday at the XFINITY Center Pavilion. The Terps (12-13, 3-11 Big Ten) have now won back-to-back conference matches, and head coach Adam Hughes earned his 100th career win.

The Terps dominated every set except the second. They hit over .250 in all three sets they won, including a .424 hitting performance in the game-clinching set. UCLA sits at 10-12 overall and 4-9 in Big Ten play.

Samantha Schnitta led the Terps with another dominant outing. The graduate pin hitter recorded 22 kills (career-high), nine digs, six blocks and three service aces. She now has 67 aces on the season, leading the nation. She also needs one more ace to claim the program record for single-season aces.

Sam Csire added 14 kills and eight digs. She reached 1400 kills in her career, becoming one of just four in program history to achieve that feat. The five-year outside hitter is closing in on a top-three appearance on the career kills leaderboard. With 1409, Csire is nearing Adreené Elliott (2011-15) with 1,424.

Freshman Katie Scherer provided another excellent performance since entering the starting lineup. She tallied a career-best 13 kills, six digs and four blocks, earning her second career game with double-digit kills.
