Terps Extend Win Streak To Five In Sweep Over UMBC

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland volleyball vs. UMBC (25-12, 26-24, 25-16) on Sep. 15 at the XFINITY Center Pavilion. Maryland (6-2) earned its fifth sweep of the season and has now won five consecutive games. 

The Terps got off to a hot start in the first set with several scoreless runs throughout. They posted a .722 hitting percentage, forcing UMBC to commit seven attack errors to Maryland’s zero. 

Despite a late push by UMBC in set two, Maryland held on with a kill by Sydney Bryant and forced an attack error for match point. It recorded 18 kills in the set overall. The Terps shut the door in the final set, ending the match on an 8-1 run. 

Samantha Schnitta recorded 13 kills, five aces, three digs and three blocks. Sam Csire added 10 kills, three aces, five digs and a block. It was Schnitta’s sixth time and Csire’s fifth time recording 10 or more kill this season. 

Other standout performers were Bryant (10 kills and two digs) and Anastasia Russ (four kills and four blocks).  


 

Zoe Huang led Maryland with 24 assists. It was her fifth consecutive game with 15 or more assists after setting a career-high 29 assists against New Hampshire on Aug. 31. She also recorded five digs and three aces.  
 

UMBC remains winless through seven games this season.
