SEATTLE – Maryland volleyball was defeated by Washington in four sets (25-23, 17-25, 29-31, 19-25) on Saturday at Alaska Airlines Arena. The Terps are now 10-11 overall and 1-9 in Big Ten play.
The Terps stole set one despite an 8-0 run by the Huskies midway through. Samantha Schnitta recorded five kills during the set. However, the ensuing three sets didn’t go Maryland’s way. Washington hit over .600 in the second set and came away victorious in a thrilling third set that several runs and back-and-forth scoring by each squad. Maryland fought hard in the final set, but Washington’s early 8-1 run mounted a lead it would not relinquish.

Sam Csire (14), Schnitta (13) and Sydney Bryant (10) each recorded 10 or more kills. Schnitta added seven digs and three blocks. Csire posted a near double-double, adding nine digs. Eva Rohrbach nearly joined the double-digit kill party with eight.
Setters Sydney Dowler and Zoe Huang also provided standout performances. Dowler recorded 12 assists, five kills, four aces and three blocks for an all-around performance. Huang totaled 20 assists and six digs. Lilly Gunter provided 13 digs and her 100th career game with double-digit digs.
Washington advanced to 16-4 overall and 6-4 in conference action. It was previously ranked and started the season 13-0.
