SEATTLE – Washington picked up its first ever All-Big Ten Volleyball Team honors today, as Kierstyn Barton and Emoni Bush were each voted to the Second Team, and Julia Hunt was named to the All-Freshman Team. The honors are based on a vote of the conference’s head coaches.
Barton (Chandler, Ariz.) was named to the Second Team in spite of missing 14 matches this season, a testament to her effectiveness when she has been on the court. The sophomore leads the Huskies with 3.37 kills per set this year, up from 2.79 a year ago, and she is hitting .257, improving on her .199 freshman year percentage. Barton has also improved to 2.38 digs per set and 0.45 blocks per set. She has three matches with 20+ kills this season and has reached double-digit kills in 12 of the 16 matches she’s played in.

Bush has led the Huskies in kills in nine matches, making a big impact after she redshirted the 2023 season recovering from surgery. The Campbell River, Canada native has played primarily on the right side, but also shifted to the left for several matches, including the win at Minnesota where she had a career-high-tying 19 kills. Bush is averaging 2.63 kills per set and hitting .236 and has averaged a career-high 0.66 blocks per set and 0.89 digs per set.

Hunt has made a big impact, starting all but one match in the middle for the Dawgs, and leading the team with a .331 attack percentage. She’s also leading the squad with 1.18 blocks per set. She was the first Husky to win a Big Ten Player of the Week award when she was named Freshman of the Week on Sept. 16. The Covington, Ky. product has reached double-digit kills in six matches, and has hit over .400 with 5+ kills in 13 matches.
