ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The United Volleyball Conference announced its All-Academic List for the 2023 season and recognized 55 student-athletes from the league’s seven full-time members for their contributions on the court and their excellence in the classroom.
This marks the tenth year the UVC has recognized academic achievement. Recipients of this Academic List must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.30 (on a 4.00 scale), a 4.10 (on a 5.00 scale) or an 82 (on a 100 point scale) following the completion of the spring semester. In addition, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically, display positive conduct on and off campus and be enrolled full-time at the member institution.
From Elmira College, three student-athletes earned a spot on the list after posting impressive years’ in the classroom. For Elmira, Oscar Munoz Trinidad ’23, Jordan Peiser ’24, and Haenhyanonhna Powless ’23 were recognized.
League champion Vassar College led all UVC programs with 14 student-athletes honored in 2023. MIT was right behind with 12 student-athletes garnering the prestigious all-academic accolade, while Nazareth University had 11 student-athletes honored.
Additionally, five of the seven institutions were acknowledged as UVC All-Academic Teams for registering a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher for 2023 spring semester. Vassar, NYU and MIT all recorded at least a 3.5 team GPA.
