BOISE, Idaho – The Oregon beach volleyball team had two teams advance to division semifinals on day two of the City of Trees Classic hosted by Boise State. Collectively, the Ducks tallied four wins Sunday at their second tournament of the fall season.
In the first result of the day, Katrena Koellner and Valerie Peterson knocked off the bronze bracket top-seeded duo of Kylie Pitzak and Azure McOmber from Utah. The Ducks came through with a 21-15, 22-20 victory to advance to the semifinals. Koellner and Peterson fell to the eventual division champions from Boise State, Summer McCann and Elli Wolthuis.
Macy Furtwangler and Natasha George were winners in the quarterfinal round of the silver division. The pair topped Utah’s Milan Ray and Lauren Sayre in three sets (21-14, 16-21, 15-11) to advance. However, in the semifinals, Furtwangler and George couldn’t overcome a slow start in a loss to Mya Jackson and Addison Wolden from Boise State.
In consolation play Sunday, Jensen Kaelin and Ashley Schroeder posted a 28-23 win over Utah’s Gwen Fife and Chloe Narancich in the gold division. Josie Griffiths, playing a split squad with Utah’s Siona Thompson, also had a consolation win in the bronze division.
