UCLA Falls in Four to No. 18 Huskies

LOS ANGELES – Iman Ndiaye recorded a career-high 15 kills at .440 as the UCLA women’s volleyball team fell, 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 17-25, 19-25), to No. 18 Washington in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom Sunday afternoon.
 
Sophomore outside hitter Charitie Luper, who made her first start of the season for the Bruins (6-5, 0-2 Pac-12) today, matched Ndiaye with 15 kills of her own at a .406 clip. Luper also notched seven digs and a solo block.
 
Setter Ella May Powell led the Huskies (10-2, 2-0 Pac-12) in a double-double effort with 41 assists and 10 digs to go along with six kills. Claire Hoffman had a match-high 17 kills.
 
UCLA opened the match with 18 kills at a .625 hitting percentage compared to Washington’s 16 at .448. Luper and Ndiaye each had five kills in the frame while élan McCall and Lauren Forte recorded for apiece. Matti McKissock notched 16 assists on 20 attempts (.800).
 
Forte helped put the set away with two kills late to stretch UCLA’s lead to 23-20.
 
The Bruins followed their first set .625 act with 17 more kills at .378 in the second, but it wasn’t enough to stay with the Huskies. UCLA trailed two points late into the second set, 22-20, when the Washington pulled away thanks to a Bruin service error and attack error.
