UCLA Sweeps Colorado for First Conference Win

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA women’s volleyball team secured its first conference win in a sweep of Colorado at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom Friday night.
 
Set scores were 25-23, 25-21 and 25-17.
 
Grayce Olson led the Bruins (9-4, 1-2 Pac-12) with a match-high 13 kills and two blocks. Middle blocker Anna Dodson added eight kills at an efficient .462 hitting percentage and a team-high five blocks. Freshman Ashley Mullen ushered the Bruins’ attack with 28 assists.
 
UCLA overcame a six-point deficit in set two, 7-1, thanks to a 6-0 run at the service line by Cheridyn Leverette capped by an ace. Dodson and sophomore Grayce Olson accounted for four other UCLA points on three kills and one block. Olson scored her fourth kill of the set to give the Bruins a 2-0 advantage heading into set three.
 
The Buffaloes’ (9-5, 1-2 Pac-12) leading attacker was Lexi Hadrych with 10 kills at a .174 hitting percentage.
 
A furious rally featuring five UCLA digs, one stuff and a dig kill by libero Peyton Dueck helped catapult the Bruins in set three. On the ensuing three plays, Leverette tallied two kills and a block assist to tie up the set and give UCLA the lead, 7-5. Leverette put up four kills and three digs total in the put-away set.
 
Mokihana Tufono and Dueck both dealt two service aces midway through set three to give the Bruins a three-point buffer, 15-12. Olson once again retired Colorado in set three, recording three of the Bruins’ last five…
