MERCED, Calif. – The University of California, Merced women’s volleyball team lost 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-10) to Park University Gilbert on Friday evening inside the Joseph Edward Gallo Gymnasium.
Hannah Dillingham led the Bobcats (5-8, 3-4) with six kills, while Valentina Evans had three kills and shared match-high with three blocks. Evans has recorded multiple blocks in six consecutive matches dating back to the Cal Pac opener on September 8.
Serena Choi pitched in seven assists, seven digs, three kills and a service ace.
Other notables include six digs from Destiny Lei Ramilo, five digs from Bianca Malaluan and Annamarie Caldero, and two blocks from Olanasaze Ojo. Lei Ramilo and Tea Bishop added a service ace.
Bishop’s service ace opened up the night, but it was one of just a few leads the Bobcats held throughout the contest. The Bobcats other leads were during the first seven rallies in the second set. The biggest lead was two points, first coming at 2-0. The Bobcats were tied 10-10 in the second set before the frame got away from them. UC Merced trailed from start to finish in the final set, suffering in the sweep.
Park Gilbert was led by Hattie Patton and Amanda Jonovich. Patton finished with 24 digs and three service aces, while Jonovich was good for 14 kills on a .522 hitting percentage and eight digs.
Park Gilbert, the 2021 Cal Pac Regular Season Champions, recorded a .362 hitting percentage as a team.
