LOS ANGELES – The USC men’s volleyball program has added 5-8 libero and defensive specialist Brad Pan (Cupertino, Calif./Cupertino HS) to the 2023-24 freshman class head coach Jeff Nygaard announced on Thursday, Feb. 23.
Pan is a four-year captain and team MVP at Cupertino High School in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League and was named to the All-SCVAL team as a junior in 2022. He was chosen to the USA Boys Select A2 National Training Team Program in 2020 and plays for the Mountain View Volleyball Club under the direction of lead coach Ken Shibuya. Pan helped Cupertino to a second-place finish and a CCS Open Division berth in 2022 and was a part of an MVVBC team that claimed first-place finishes at the Far Western Bid Tournament, the SoCal Cup Showcase Silver Bracket, and the AAU National Silver Bracket last spring.
Pan rounds out the Trojans’ 2023 recruiting class, which includes 6-5 OH Jack Ebertin (Mountain View, Calif./St. Francis HS), 6-4 OH Jakobi Lange (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central HS), and 6-10 MB Wes Smith (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS). The four freshman Trojans will arrive on campus in the fall, ahead of the 2024 season.
13th-ranked USC (6-6, 0-2 MPSF) hosts No. 9 Stanford (8-5, 1-1) for a pair of matches at Galen Center this weekend (Feb. 24 and 26). Both will be shown live on the Pac-12 Networks.
In its history, the USC men’s volleyball program has captured four NCAA championships while appearing in 15 NCAA tournaments and has produced 21 Olympians, 34 first-team All-Americans, and seven College Players of the Year.
