EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Volleyball team received the American Volleyball Coaches’ Association Team Academic Award for the 2023-24 season. This marks the first time the Screaming Eagles earned the award since the 2013-14. season.
The honor is awarded to volleyball teams that have displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining a 3.30 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. This is the third year in program history USI has earned the award, marking the first time in NCAA Division I play.
“This is another great recognition for the ’23-’24 team and a testament to the work this group put in on the court and in the classroom,” says head coach Jeffrey Aucoin. “They proved themselves on the court and have now set a new standard for our program in the classroom.
The Eagles shinned on the court last season as well boasting a 14-game win improvement from 2022. The program earned their first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament win, making it to the semifinals.
USI kicks the season off with three road invitationals at Bradley University (August 30-31), Florida University (September 6-8), and Indiana University (13-14). The Eagles return home to play at University of Evansville (September 17), before their home opening weekend (September 20-21) against UE and Indiana University-Indianapolis.
