Nacogdoches, Tex. – Utah Beach Volleyball established a new program win record on Saturday, defeating Stephen F. Austin and McNeese State, for the second day. The Utes would takedown Stephen F. Austin 3-2 in their first contest of the day, before locking up their second win of the day and fourth win of the weekend, defeating McNeese 4-1.
The pairing of Sonja Wessel and Milan Ray picked up the first win of the day on the fourth court, with a 21-18, 21-17 decision. Kylie Pitzak and Marissa Koch were the first to finish, falling in their match on the fourth court, 21-18, 21-17. The Utah team on court three consisting of Chloe Narancich and Lauren Sayre put the Utes ahead 2-1, as the pairing took their match from Stephen F. Austin 23-21, 21-15. Langley Griffin and Katie McAlister were in a three-set battle on the first court, eventually falling to the home team 14-21, 21-18, 15-11. Rylee Johnson and Bella Vezzani would clinch the deciding match for the Utes on the second court, sealing the decision with a 22-20, 21-13 win.
The duo of Griffin and McAlister would find themselves in their second five-set battle of the day, coming up with the win over McNeese 21-15, 16-21, 15-13. Wessel and Ray secured the first win of the second match of the day for Utah, with a 21-11, 22-20 victory. Kylie Pitzak and Marissa Koch put Utah up 2-0 in the match, after the pair took the decision on the fourth court, 21-15, 21-10. Rylee Johnson and Bella Vezzani improved to 2-0 on the day, defeating their opponents from McNeese 21-12, 21-7.
Utah will start Pac-12 action next weekend, Mar. 8-9, from Tempe, Arizona, where they will take on Washington, Arizona, California and Southern California.
