Utah Defeats Northeastern for Third Consecutive Win

CHICAGO – Utah Volleyball picked up its third win in a row, with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-17) sweep of the Northeastern Huskies, on the final day of the Loyola Chicago Invitational. The Utes tallied two sweeps in three days over the weekend, and have now won five of seven matches by way of the 3-0 decision.
 
Utah wasted no time taking an early lead on Northeastern, doubling-up the Huskies, 10-5. The Utes put together back-to-back four-point runs, helping the team get to the 10-point benchmark and then the second run would allow Utah to take a 13-5 advantage. Utah continued to string runs together, while holding the Huskies at bay, pushing the advantage out to 21-11. After Northeastern tried to chip away at the Utah lead, Kamry Bailey put away back-to-back kills to secure the 25-17 first set win.
 
Claranne Fechter got the second set started, acing the Northeastern defense for the first point. The Utes quickly raced out to a 10-5 advantage for the second set in a row. Winning the race to 15, Utah carried a three-point run to take a 16-9 lead, seeing kills from Lauren Jardine and Kamryn Gibadlo. The Utes saw an nine-point differential, leading 21-12, coming off the Ashley West kill and Isabelle Marco ace. Utah took advantage of back-to-back errors by the Northeastern attack to help complete the second set win, 25-16.
 
In the third set, Northeastern kept the battle close throughout the early stages, as the Utes maintained a two-point lead, 10-8. Utah found some separation, taking advantage of the Northeastern mistakes, while a whole mix of Utes provided…
