Utah Falls to #15 Arizona State on the Road

TEMPE, Ariz. – Utah Volleyball took its first conference road trip of the Big 12 era, traveling to No. 15 Arizona State, falling to the Sun Devils 3-1 (25-17, 13-25, 19-25, 15-25).
 
The Utes set the tone in the first set, putting away 15 kills while holding Arizona State to a -.023 hitting percentage. Utah put together a pair of early scoring runs, giving the Utes a 12-7 advantage over the Sun Devils. Winning the race to the 15-point media break, Allie Olsen put away the kill for the Utes, giving Utah the 15-10 lead. The Utes used a pair of Arizona State errors, leaning on back-to-back kills from Emrie Satuala to help extend the lead to 19-13. Coming down the stretch of a first set win, Ashley West added a pair of kills, before the Utes secured the 25-17 win.
 
Arizona State jumped out to an early lead in the third set, before Utah was able to climb back to within two, trailing 15-13. Levani Key-Powell sparked the Utah offense, going on a six-point rally to help cut into the Sun Devil advantage. The home side fought off the Utah comeback, holding on to take the third set, 25-19.

Heading to the fourth set, the two sides kept it close throughout the early going, before the Sun Devils found some separation at the 10-6 mark. Utah strung together three consecutive points, making it a 16-13 match, getting kills from Satuala and Kamryn Gibadlo. Arizona State put together a seven-point run to close out the set, 25-15.
