SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Volleyball rallied for an explosive third set, igniting a come-from-behind 3-2 (19-25, 20-25, 25-9, 25-22, 15-11) win over the Utah Valley Wolverines. The Utes stormed back to take the third set, 25-9, posting a .652 hitting percentage, with 15 kills on 23 swings without an error.
Utah put together a 7-2 run to get the momentum rolling in the third set. The Utes extended their advantage with a four-point run, making it 11-3. Utah kept the pressure on, after a pair of Vanessa Ramirez aces. The Utes amassed an eight-point scoring run, extending the lead, 22-7. Kamry Bailey put Utah on the board with their first set win of the day, acing the Wolverine defense for set point.
Keeping the momentum rolling into the fourth set, claiming a quick 7-2 advantage. The two sides would find themselves trading points, as Utah Valley put together a run of their own. The Wolverines would tie things up at 9-9 and 11-11. The Utes would regain their lead later in the set, 22-19, before taking the set, 25-22.
Heading into the fifth, Utah would strike first, taking a 3-2 lead through the first five points. Utah Valley evened the score at 4-4, before taking its first lead of the final set, 6-5. An ace from Kamryn Gibadlo cut into the Utah Valley advantage, 10-9. Sparking a Utah rally, the Utes would score five consecutive points, taking a 12-10 advantage. Vanessa Ramirez would step back to serve for match-point, securing the 15-11 win for the Utes in the fifth set.

Utah will get set to host the annual Utah Classic to begin the 2024 campaign, opening with UTEP on Friday, Aug. 30, with first serve from the Jon M. Huntsman Center at 7 p.m. MT. Utah returns to action on Saturday, Aug. 31 for day two of the classic, taking on Utah State at 5 p.m. MT. The Utes will bring the weekend to a close on Sunday, Sept. 1 with their final match of the classic against Green Bay at 12:30 p.m. MT.
